WI NOW Stands With Alicia Beltran

Alicia Beltran, 28, of Jackson, WI was taken into custody this summer after refusing to start an anti-addiction drug for an addiction she was no longer struggling with. Her real crime? Being pregnant. A Wisconsin law passed in 1998 allows child-welfare authorities to detain pregnant women who are abusing alcohol and drugs and refuse to accept treatment. Love Your Body Day

On Wednesday, Oct. 16th, Madison NOW members will share the empowering message of Love Your Body Day with University of Wisconsin students by passing out care packages on library mall. Wisconsin NOW to Take Action Against AB 206

On Tuesday, Sept. 24, members of the Wis. chapter of the National Organization for Women will spend the noon hour outside the state capitol, raising awareness about the latest anti-choice bill to emerge from the legislature. Assembly Bill 206 is scheduled for a hearing at noon.  If passed, the bill will allow for the sale of special “Choose Life” license plates in Wisconsin.
